Pedestrian seriously injured in Hit and Run accident in Hazel Dell

The name of the Victim in the Hit and Run:

Chavarria, Christopher J 24 years of age
Resident of Vancouver
Still listed in Critical Condition at Peace Health Medical Center

On this date at approximately 1:00 AM the suspected driver of the Hit and Run vehicle turned him self in to the Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit.

Steven Flick 49 years of age
Resident of Vancouver

Flick was booked into the Clark County Jail on one count of Felony Hit and Run. The suspect vehicle in the collision was also located and seized as evidence.

On April 14, 2012 at just before 4:30 pm police and rescue units were sent to the 6100 block of NE Hazel Dell Avenue on a report of a pedestrian being struck by a red truck. The driver of the truck fled the scene.

The victim, a 24 year old male, was attempting to cross Highway 99 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 99.

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene after the accident, and has not yet been located. The suspect vehicle was described as an older red or maroon small truck. There should be substantial damage to the front of the truck and a broken windshield. The driver of the truck was described as an adult white male with facial hair.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the Southwest Washington Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office asking anyone who may have information on the driver of the truck to call 9-1-1.

The victim's name is not being released at this time.

Detectives from the Clark County Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating the collision.
