On March 29, 2012, James Hardee, age 43, of Silverton, Oregon, was arrested by a Clackamas County deputy while driving a vehicle he had carjacked from Happy Valley resident Justin Dye.

The Clackamas County Grand Jury recently indicted Mr. Hardee with the charges of Robbery I, Robbery II, 3 counts of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, 7 counts of Identity Theft, 2 counts of Theft I, and 2 counts of Theft III.

The Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory completed analysis of DNA evidence seized from a September 16, 2011 robbery of taxicab driver, Alex Grishkevich, in rural Clackamas County.

James Hardee was identified as the suspect in the Grishkevich robbery through DNA he left on a glass he drank out of at a restaurant, prior to committing the robbery. Additional video evidence also confirmed him as the suspect.

While Clackamas County Interagency Task Force investigators were attempting to locate Mr. Hardee for questioning in that crime, he was committing ID Thefts at various Clackamas County businesses.

Happy Valley Police are still attempting to identify the accomplice in the Happy Valley carjacking robbery. The victim was able to provide details to the Clackamas County Forensic Artist in order to create a sketch of the accomplice.
