Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives and troopers are continuing the investigation following the recovery of a stolen $39,000 excavator located last week after a company representative spotted it on a Craigslist advertisement. The excavator was reported stolen over two months ago from a construction site along Interstate 5 south of Wilsonville. No arrests have been made at this time.
On February 29, 2012, OSP was contacted by Carter & Company Inc. reporting they located their stolen Kobelco model 50 SR-3 hydraulic excavator at a warehouse outside of Albany. The construction equipment was spotted on Craigslist and confirmed as their stolen equipment when a company representative responded to the advertisement.
OSP went to the warehouse in the 1000 block of Old Salem Road outside Albany and recovered the equipment. The warehouse owners are cooperating with the investigation and the equipment is stored at a secure location pending follow up investigation. No arrests have been made but persons of interest are identified.
The hydraulic excavator and a Kent model F5 hydraulic breaker were reported stolen December 15, 2012 from a construction site along the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 282. The hydraulic breaker has not been recovered.
