INJURY TRAFFIC CRASH - INTERSTATE 5 NEAR GOLD HILL

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation and still gathering information related to a two-vehicle crossover head-on crash on Interstate 5 near Gold Hill Sunday afternoon. The following preliminary information is being released and more details should be available Monday morning.
According to OSP Sergeant David Beck, on August 14, 2011 at approximately 3:05 p.m. a 2005 Toyota Scion driven by an adult male was southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 42 when the driver lost control, traveled through the center median and collided head-on with a northbound 2007 GMC Yukon with six occupants. Seven people, 3 adults and four juvenile age females, were transported to area hospitals with various injuries. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The GMC Yukon was driven by an adult female who was extricated by fire personnel and transported by air ambulance to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford with serious injuries. The adult male passenger and four juvenile age females were transported by ground ambulance to an unidentified hospital.
The adult male driver of the Toyota Scion was transported to an unknown area hospital. Several charges are anticipated in this investigation.
One lane was closed in both directions for a couple hours.
OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Grants Pass Fire & Rescue and ODOT assisted at the scene.
