Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Monday afternoon's three-vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 6 between Glenwood and Banks. The crash resulted in the death of one person and serious, non-life threatening injuries to another person. Names and other information may be available for release Tuesday by noon.

Preliminary information from Lieutenant Eric Davenport indicates on July 11, 2011 at approximately 3:00 p.m. a full-size pickup driven by an adult male was eastbound on Highway 6 near milepost 42 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a Ford passenger car driven by an adult male. After the initial collision, an eastbound passenger car with four occupants wasn't able to stop and struck the rear of the pickup causing minor damage.

The Ford passenger car's driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The pickup's driver was transported by LifeFlight to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The four occupants in the third vehicle were not injured. Their vehicle was later driven from the scene.

OSP troopers from the Banks and Astoria offices are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash with the assistance of the Washington County District Attorney's Office.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Washington County Sheriff's Office, Forest Grove and Banks fire departments, and ODOT.

The highway was closed about five hours with a detour in place.

No other information or photographs available for release at this time.
