Portland Parks & Recreation Golf Helps Lower-Income Students Receive Scholarships:
E.AG.L.E Program Soars
(Portland, OR)
Attention, All Golfers!
Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) offers outreach opportunities to underserved and lower income PPS high school students through the E.A.G.L.E. (Early Adventures in Golf for a Lifetime of Enjoyment) Program.
Juniors and seniors with high academic and leadership standings are the hallmark of E.A.G.L.E. students. The goal for each E.A.G.L.E. student is to receive an Evans Scholarship to attend college at UO or OSU.
During the summer, E.A.G.L.E students serve as caddies at PP&R's Eastmoreland, RedTail, Heron Lakes, and Rose City Golf Courses.
By choosing an E.A.G.L.E student as your caddy, you help them earn enough caddy rounds to be eligible as an Evans Scholar. PP&R pays the caddy for each round worked, so the cost is free to you.
However, we do encourage you to pay a gratuity of up to $10, depending on the performance of your caddy. Reserve a caddy ahead of time by calling the pro shop - and be sure to spread the word!
