Driver Cited Following Minor Injury Traffic Crash west of Bend

DRIVER CITED FOLLOWING MINOR INJURY TRAFFIC CRASH WEST OF BEND

Three people received minor injuries not requiring medical transport Monday morning following a two-vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Highway 20 and Old Bend Redmond Highway about two miles west of Bend.

According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Sergeant Don Wagner, on July 4, 2011 at approximately 11:00 a.m. a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle driven by MICAH NELSON, age 31, from Bend, was stopped facing north on Old Bend Redmond Highway. As the Volkswagen attempted to cross Highway 20 it collided with an eastbound 1991 Ford Ranger pickup driven by ALKO DAWN FADLER, age 40, from Frieheim, Missouri. After impact, FADLER lost controlled and her pickup rolled before coming to rest on its wheels

Both drivers and a 15-year old female passenger in the pickup had minor injuries. They were all using safety restraints.

NELSON was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Deschutes County Fire.
