A 16-year old southeast Oregon girl is in critical condition at a Bend-area hospital following a Friday afternoon single vehicle rollover crash south of Diamond in Harney County. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Burns work site are continuing the investigation.
According to Senior Trooper Tim Thomas, on June 10, 2011 sometime between 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. a vehicle driven ALYCIA M. JENKINS, age 16, from Diamond, was northbound on Lava Bed Lane towards Diamond when it partially traveled onto the shoulder. JENKINS over-corrected and rolled numerous times to where it came to rest off the roadway.
The crash was discovered by a passing motorist who called for help. JENKINS was using safety restraints and was critically injured. She was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend for treatment.
