MAN STRUCK BY VEHICLE IN HAZEL DELL

On March 28th, 2011 at approximately 10:17 PM deputies were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the 6200 block of Hwy 99. Upon arrival deputies and fire personnel found Samuel B. Beard, 29, of Vancouver had been crossing HWY 99 at a non intersection when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Petra J. Galvan, 59, of Vancouver, struck Beard as he was walking across the middle of two southbound lanes of travel. Hwy 99 is a four lane roadway.
Beard is in stable condition at Southwest Washington Medical Center.
At this time it does not appear the driver was affected by alcohol or drugs.
This investigation is ongoing. There is no further information to be released at this time.
