Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help to identify two suspects involved in the September 16th unlawful killing of a 4x4 bull elk northeast of Lakeside in the Tioga Unit of Elliot State Forest.
According to OSP Trooper Larry Bowen, on September 16, 2010 at approximately 8:30 a.m. two bow hunters on the 2650 Road in the Elliot State Forest witnessed two white male adults dressed in camouflage shooting in the direction of an elk herd they were watching. A 4x4 bull elk was shot and killed with two separate weapons.
The witnesses yelled at the two unidentified men who ran to an unknown make or model red full size pickup and fled the area.
Trooper Bowen recovered the bull elk and removed evidence to help with the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this wildlife crime investigation is asked to call Bowen at (541) 888-2677 ext. 244.
