OREGON CITY MASSAGE THERAPIST ARRESTED FOR SEX ABUSE OF PATIENT.
Posted: March 17th, 2010 1:07 PM

Today, on March 17, 2010, at about 12:45 pm, Rick McDaniel (d.o.b.: 05-31-59) was arrested by detectives from the Oregon City Police Department. He is being charged with Sexual Abuse in the second degree and one count of Sexual Abuse in the third degree.

Police learned of the incident on March 12, 2010, when a female victim in her forties reported that she had been sexually abused by her massage therapist, in his office, during what was supposed to be a professional therapeutic massage to treat back problems. The female victim had gone to Rick McDaniel for prior treatments, but reported no wrongdoing on those occasions. The charges are specific to one incident, which happened on March 5, 2010.

Rick McDaniel's information and biography is listed on his website at www.soulfulmassagetherapy.com. His studio is located in Heidi's Day Spa on 7th Street, in Oregon City, but his business is not affiliated with Heidi's Day Spa--he rents space in the building. For consideration of the business of Heidi's Day Spa (which has no part in these incidents) please be careful of the potentially harmful affiliation.

Police recorded a phone call between the victim and Mr. McDaniel, where he admitted to the sexual contact and blamed his behavior on a sexual addiction.

Rick McDaniel is a married father, who lives in Clackamas at 14688 SE Arbor Valley Drive.

At 1:05 pm, Rick McDaniel was taken to be lodged at the Clackamas County Jail, a booking photograph should be available in the next hour or so. Detectives are concerned there may be more potential victims who might have been reluctant to come forward. We would like anyone who believes they are a victim of Rick McDaniel to call the Oregon City Police Department and ask for Detective Cynthia Gates. ph: 503-657-4964
