A commercial truck driver received minor injuries Wednesday morning after his truck and trailer overturned onto their side along Highway 101 about ten miles south of Yachats.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Trooper Darrell Sheets, on March 6, 2013 at approximately 11:45 a.m., a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer loaded with empty crab pots driven by NICK NICHOLS, age 50, was northbound on Highway 101 near milepost 174 negotiating a curve when both overturned onto their sides on the west side of the highway.
NICHOLS, whose city of residence was not available, was transported by Western Lane Ambulance to Peace Harbor Hospital with minor injuries where he was treated and released. He was enroute from Crescent City, California to Warrenton, Oregon.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Siuslaw Valley Fire & Rescue, Northwest HazMat, and ODOT. The highway was restricted to one lane for about 4 hours before being closed one hour to upright and remove the vehicles. No citations were issued.
