The following details were released Wednesday afternoon, January 26, updating today's developments of the ongoing search for suspect DAVID ANTHONY DURHAM, age 43, related to Sunday night's shooting of Lincoln City Police Officer Steven Dodds:
* Investigators have authorized the release of a surveillance photo of DURHAM taken within 30 minutes of the shooting as he exited a local business. The photo shows the clothing he was wearing that was described during this morning's briefing. The name and location of the business is not being released. (Photograph provided)
* Today at 11:14 a.m. a homeowner in the 2200 block of NW Pinecrest Way east of Highway 101 reported seeing a dog matching "Huckleberry's" description in her back yard. Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and OSP SWAT officers responded to the area and confirmed the sighting. The dog responded to officers when they called its name.
Animal Services Deputy Kerri Tyler responded to the scene. Deputy Tyler used food to entice the injured dog into the back of her pickup. She transported "Huckleberry" to a Newport-area veterinarian for an examination of its injured left rear leg. After examination and any needed treatment, "Huckleberry" will be housed at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter for a few days. Family members have been contacted and arrangements will be made to return "Huckleberry" to them at a later date. (Photographs provided)
* OSP SWAT team members remained in the area where the dog was found and conducted an extensive area search but didn't find DURHAM or any evidence indicating he was in that area.
* Waldport area residents will continue to see an increased police presence while the search and investigation continues.
* Anyone who sees someone matching the description of DURHAM should immediately call Lincoln County 9-1-1. Anyone with non-emergent information related to this investigation or about DURHAM should call their non-emergency line at (541) 265-4231.
