Three local businesses will receive Beaverton 4 Business recognition for their significant business achievements from Mayor Denny Doyle and City Council at the Beaverton City Council Meeting on Monday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall (4755 SW Griffith Drive).
Launched in October 2009, Beaverton 4 Business is a program conducted in partnership with the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce that publicly recognizes companies either headquartered or with operations in Beaverton
"Beaverton businesses put people to work right here in our community," said Mayor Doyle. "These awards are our way of thanking those businesses and showing them that the city is proud of their accomplishments."
May 2010 award winners:
Absorbent Technologies, Inc. (ATI) is a science-based manufacturer of biodegradable, superabsorbent products and ingredients for boosting soil absorbency and crop productivity in agriculture, forestry, and industry. According to the Portland Business Journal, ATI is on the cusp of landing $20 million in financing as global demand for its products has increased. ATI has also chosen Beaverton for their corporate headquarters and recently re-signed a lease that will keep the business here for the next five years.
Avnera is globally-known maker technology for consumer audio products. The company's specialty is taking functions that might typically require multiple chips (battery charging, voltage regulation, amplification, etc.) and incorporating them into a single chip. Through a joint partnership with Best Buy, Avnera recently unveiled a new technology called Rocketboost, which is designed to deliver high-quality home audio systems without wires.
Ava Roasteria has recently expanded into a new catering and event facility on SW 3rd Street and Hall Boulevard. Owner Amy Saberiyan's drive and determination helped her build Ava Roasteria on a restored brownfield and create a popular coffee shop and gathering spot in Beaverton. Ava Roasteria previously participated in Beaverton's Storefront Improvement Program and today its warm and welcoming design adds to Beaverton's aesthetic.
