VEHICLE COLLISION - WASHOUGAL RIVER ROAD

On November 23rd at 12:02PM, members of Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Washougal Police Department responded to the area of 34712 NE Washougal River Road on the report of a multiple vehicle collision. The caller reported that one of the vehicles had gone down an embankment and into the Washougal River.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found that two vehicles were involved in the collision. The causing driver, 51 year old Randy Godwin, was traveling westbound in a 2004 Ford Focus when he drove across the center lane and into the path of an eastbound SUV. The two vehicles collided in the eastbound lane.
The second vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, was forced off the road causing it to travel down a 30 foot embankment. The vehicle came to rest in the Washougal River, halfway submerged. The two adult male occupants of the Tahoe were able to remove themselves from the vehicle and climb up to the roadway; they were uninjured.
The driver of the Ford Focus was also uninjured. He was issued a Notice of Infraction for crossing the center line. Traffic was delayed for approximately one hour while the Tahoe was removed from the river. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in this collision.
