On November 1, 2015 at about 1:30AM, OSP Troopers were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Highway 34 near milepost 4 in Linn County (east of Corvallis).

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2000 Chevy Impala operated by Adrean Antonio MAGANA, age 18, of Albany, was eastbound on Highway 34 when he collided with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis for treatment of life-threatening injuries. They were subsequently transferred to Legacy Emanuel in Portland. The pedestrian has yet been identified.

MAGANA and his passenger were uninjured. MAGANA was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering Another. Other charges are being investigated. Seatbelt usage information is pending.

Current roadway evidence indicates the pedestrian was positioned within the travel lanes of the highway when struck. Road conditions were dark, wet and windy with light rain.

Highway 34 was restricted to one lane in each direction for approximately three and a half hours during the investigation. OSP was assisted at the scene by Corvallis Fire Department, Tangent Fire Department, Albany Fire Department, Linn County Sheriff's Office, Benton County Sheriff's Office, Albany Police and The Oregon Department of Transportation.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
