KIWANIS BEGINS 2015 SANDY COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS BASKETS

This is the 60th year that the Sandy schools, youth organizations, businesses and citizens have pulled together prior to Christmas to collect canned food and gifts for boxes for the needy. The canned food drive is spearheaded by the Leadership Club at Sandy High School.
After Thanksgiving, students from the elementary and high schools, scouts and other groups will begin the food drive for the Kiwanis project. The students from the schools raise the majority of the canned food. Assembling the boxes is done with the help from the Leadership, Key Club, FFA and community volunteers.
The Sandy Fire District take and processing the applications for those in the Sandy Fire District requests for a Christmas box. Applications can be made at the Sandy Fire District main station located at 17460 Bruns Ave in Sandy. Applications are accepted 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday beginning on Monday, November 30th through December 16th.
New toys are being collected and donated by several local businesses and organizations. Anyone wishing to donate gifts can take them to the Sandy Fire District, Berkshire Hathaway Real Estate, Sandy Branch of Clackamas County Bank and Sandy Les Schwab Tire. The Kiwanis asks that gifts not be wrapped.
The boxes will be delivered to the recipients on Saturday, December 19th between 8:30 and 10:00 am. Deliveries are made with the help of the Sandy Fire District youth organizations, businesses and community residents. If you are interested in volunteering to assist with the deliveries please contact Martin Montgomery at 503-894-4382.
Monetary contributions for purchasing the meat, fresh foods and additional canned goods can be sent to:
