On November 22, 2015 at about 2:40AM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a roll over crash on Highway 22 just west of Salem (near Highway 51/Independence Highway).

The driver, identified as James Allen YOUNG, age 28, of Independence, was transported to Salem Hospital for serious injuries. The passenger, Christopher Duane LIDDELL, age 24, of Corvallis, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Preliminary information indicates the Subaru was traveling eastbound on Highway 22 at a high rate of speed (estimated by witnesses at 100mph) when it lost control. The Subaru struck a light pole, rolled over multiple times before coming to rest upright in a field. According to investigators, the Subaru traveled for over 900 feet after exiting the roadway.

Speed and alcohol consumption are being considered as the contributing factors. This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be release when it becomes available. OSP was assisted by Keizer Police, Dallas Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
