BEAVERTON, Ore. -- The City of Beaverton will modify traffic beginning the first week of December to one lane on Barrows Road between Roshak Road and 154th Avenue to make sewer line improvements. After the work is completed near 154th, one of the three lanes will be closed and two-way traffic will be directed through the construction work zone. Motor vehicles are encouraged to use SW Scholls Ferry Road and SW Horizon Boulevard during construction hours. Flaggers will be directing traffic between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The joint project between the City of Beaverton, Clean Water Services and the City of Tigard is estimated to wrap up in April 2016 and includes improvements such as:
* Replacing an 8-inch sewer line with a 24-inch sewer line
* Installing new street lighting at SW 154th
* Making pedestrian path improvements at SW 154th

The estimated construction cost of the project is $732,000. Beaverton provided design of the project, and will be funding $58,500 of the construction cost. Clean Water Services is bidding, managing construction, and funding $615,000 of the construction cost. The City of Tigard is funding $58,500 of the construction cost. Weitman Excavation, LLC will supply the workforce for the project.

Pedestrian traffic will be directed to the south side of Barrows during construction near SW 154th as part of the path will be removed and reinstalled. The closed areas will be marked during construction. Bicyclists are encouraged to use caution while riding through the construction zone.
