October 31, 2015--Deputies arrested a DUII driver that struck a witness with their vehicle while the deputies were investigating a previous hit and run crash.
On October 31, 2015, at 1:23 a.m., Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 18700 block of SW Vista Road, in the community of Aloha, concerning a report of a vehicle that crashed into a parked vehicle and then into the house. The driver and passengers fled the crash scene on foot prior to the Sheriff's Deputies arrival.
Deputies arrived on scene and found a 2001GMC pickup that failed to negotiate a turn in the road in the residential neighborhood. The occupants of the pickup were seen by witnesses running from the crash immediately after it occurred. The pickup had significant front damage after striking the homeowner's Ford Aerostar in the driveway. The Aerostar was pushed into the garage door as the GMC pickup crashed into the living room area. The house received extensive damage (photos attached).
Sheriff's Deputies were assisted by a Sheriff's K9 to track down the subjects but were unable to locate them. Investigators are continuing to follow up on several leads but have not been able to positively identify the driver of the GMC.
While Sheriff's Deputies were interviewing a witness to the hit and run crash, a vehicle was passing their location, left the roadway, and struck the witness causing a knee injury. The deputy contacted the driver, Marvis Lambert Jr, 32, from Hillsboro. Sheriff's Deputies believe that alcohol was a contributing factor in this crash. The witness was treated and released at the scene with minor injuries.
Marvis Lambert Jr was arrested and charged with DUII, Fourth Degree Assault and Reckless Driving. He was lodged in the Washington County Jail, held on $2,500 bail (booking photo attached).
Every year, the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrests approximately 1,000 drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and have a designated driver arranged before they consume any substance that can cause impairment.
