Hillsboro, OR - A family of five adults, their three dogs and one cat are unharmed after a one-alarm house fire in Hillsboro Wednesday. At 11:30am a citizen called 9-1-1 to report white and gray smoke coming from the attic of the house and the sound of a barking dog. The caller initially believed the dog was inside but a short time later reported that the dog was in the fenced back yard.

The first engine company to arrive from Hillsboro Fire Station #1 found heavy smoke coming from the attic of the single story residence at 3105 NW Glencoe Rd. Firefighters quickly mounted an attack through the gable end on the south side of the roof. HFD Truck 5 arrived and began opening the roof to release the building heat and smoke. Firefighters had the blaze knocked down and under control within 20 minutes of their arrival.

None of the occupants were home at the time of the fire. Three of the occupants arrived as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

Fire investigators have interviewed the residents and are working to determine the cause of the fire.
No damage estimates are available at this time.

The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross will be working to provide the family with temporary housing.

Twenty firefighters from the Hillsboro Fire Department responded to the fire. No injuries were reported.

Hillsboro Fire Department reminds you to evacuate immediately if you suspect fire and call 9-1-1 once you are safely outside. And remember, when evacuating from a fire - ONCE OUTSIDE, DON'T GO BACK IN.
