Electric service interruption set for 1,200 Pacific Power customers south and east of Ashland

ASHLAND, Ore. - Approximately 1,200 Pacific Power customers south and east of Ashland will be without electricity for about two hours in the early morning of Thursday, Oct. 8 so Pacific Power crews can safely replace essential electrical equipment and facilities.

The outage is scheduled to begin at 1 a.m. Oct. 8 and could last until 3 a.m., although power will be restored at the first opportunity. The area affected is along Highway 66 from Ashland to Pinehurst, Old Siskiyou Highway from Emigrant Lake to I-5 Exit 6, Mount Ashland Ski Road, and Hyatt Lake and Hyatt Prairie Roads. Customers along Dead Indian Memorial Road will be unaffected.

Customers in the affected area have been notified individually about the outage. Lodging and restaurant operators are encouraged to make sure their guests are aware of the interruption, as well.

"Pacific Power needs to shut off power temporarily to upgrade some essential equipment," said Monte Mendenhall, Pacific Power regional business manager. "We have timed the outage to minimize inconvenience to our customers,"

If customers have questions about the planned outage, they can call Pacific Power at 1-888-221-7070. Any outages during that time in other parts of the community should continue to be reported to Pacific Power at 1-877-508-5088.
