BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Beaverton City Library will host the Family Resource Fair on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 12375 SW Fifth Street. The fair is a free community event for families with infants through elementary school children. Parents and caregivers can take advantage of the kid-friendly format and learn about available low-cost and free programs.

"This family-friendly event is sure to have something for everyone," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "Having all of these nonprofits gathered in one location makes it convenient for residents to learn more about the vital services local nonprofits provide."

The Family Resource Fair will feature engaging displays, activities for children, and information from more than 25 local nonprofit organizations. Exhibits will highlight a wide range of topics including children's healthcare, educational support for kids of all abilities, nutritional services, fine arts, mentoring, and more. Local businesses have donated prizes for a raffle drawing.

Children ages three to seven years old, who have not already been tested through another program, can receive free vision screening, a critical step before they begin formal reading instruction. OHSU School of Dentistry will be handing out dental hygiene kits while supplies last. Children will also receive a free book from the library after visiting the exhibits.

For more information and a complete list of participating organizations, visit www.BeavertonLibrary.org/FRF or contact Carson Mischel, youth services librarian, at cmischel@BeavertonOregon.gov.
