TWO VEHICLE CRASH NEAR ONTARIO INJURES THREE - MALHEUR COUNTY (PHOTO)

On August 19, 2015 at about 10:15PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle crash on Railroad Avenue and Highway 201 (two miles south of Ontario) .
According to Sergeant Kurt Marvin, a 1996 Honda Civic operated by Joseph RUSH, age 23, of Payette, ID, was traveling eastbound on Railroad Ave when he failed to stop at a stop sign. RUSH's vehicle collided with a 2000 Buick Sedan which was traveling northbound on HWY 201. The operator of the Buick, Irl WIDMER, age 52, of Nyssa, attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.
The vehicles collided and RUSH's vehicle continued on to strike a steel power pole. WIDMER's vehicle came to rest on the roadway. RUSH was taken by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise for serious injuries. His passenger, Danielle FLEDERBACH, age 19, of Vale, was taken by ground ambulance to an Ontario Hospital but later taken by air ambulance to Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland for serious injuries. WIDMER was taken to an Ontario Hospital for minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. More information will be released when it is available. OSP was assisted by the Malheur County Sheriff's Office and Ontario Fire and Rescue.
