BEAVERTON, Ore. - Bradford Hill, Southridge High School physics teacher, will be honored as the 58th annual Beaverton Celebration Parade's grand marshal on Saturday, Sept. 12, for his achievement in receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching from the National Science Foundation.

Hill teaches freshman and International Baccalaureate physics. Known as "Hill Nye" by his students, he has been recognized for his innovative teaching that immerses his students in the rigors of math, science, and engineering projects. Hill's more than nine years of teaching at Southridge has brought him several awards and titles, including being named the 2013 Outstanding Classroom Science Teacher by the Oregon Science Teachers Association.

"Bradford is a beloved teacher at Southridge because he makes the most complex content simple," said Southridge HS Principal Todd Corsetti. "His students engage in hands-on activities that deepen their learning. Best of all, Bradford creates strong bonds with his students that last way past when they graduate. Bradford is the epitome of a teacher: a lifelong learner who shares his love of learning with his students."
