MULTIPLE VEHICLE CRASH NEAR REDMOND INJURES EIGHT - DESCHUTES COUNTY

August 5, 2015 at about 4:30PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a head on crash on Highway 97 near milepost 125 (about one mile south of Redmond).
According to Senior Trooper Scott Show, a 1994 Ford Explorer, operated by Bobby J HOWIE, age 38, of Redmond, was traveling southbound on Highway 97 when she crossed over into the northbound lanes. HOWIE's vehicle struck a 2007 GMC Yukon and then a 2015 Honda Pilot before coming to rest in the roadway.
HOWIE and her had five passengers in her vehicle were injured. One of the passengers in the vehicle, a six year old female, was critically injured and taken by air ambulance to St Charles Medical Center in Bend.
The operator of the GMC, operated by Virgil WYNIA, age 66, of Redmond was injured and taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The operator of the Honda, Patricia BEAMER, age 45, of Redmond was injured and taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The northbound and southbound lanes were closed for an hour and a half. There was a partial lane closure for an additional hour and a half. OSP was assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Department, and the Redmond Police Department.
OSP is asking for any witnesses to the crash to contact the Northern Command Center at 503-375-3555.
