At 12:33am this morning, a resident called 911 to report fire near the area of the grill on the rear of the home had started to burn up the backside of the home. The resident quickly evacuated his family to safety as crews were enroute to the scene.

The first arriving engine from Station 56 found the two-story home fully involved in fire and immediately initiated an attack on the fire. The incident was upgraded to a first-alarm response to bring additional resources to the scene including water tenders to shuttle water to fight the fire. Crews attacked the fire from all sides of the home with large volumes of water. Crews confirmed that all residents were out safely and fought the fire from the exterior for the safety of firefighters. Parts of the home suffered structural collapse during the firefighting operations. No injuries were reported and no other structures were involved. Two residents and a dog were displaced as a result of this fire. They are being provided support by neighbors. Firefighters were able to salvage one of the family's vehicles parked in front of the garage by towing it away from the home using a winch. Nearly 50 firefighters responded to the incident.

Crews will remain on scene throughout the morning to put out hot spots and prevent any rekindling of the fire. Neighbors may see or smell smoke around the fire scene during this continued operation.

A TVF&R fire investigator responded to the scene and will conduct interviews and examine material evidence to try to determine the fire cause. No damage estimate is available at this time.

TVF&R reminds everyone to have and maintain working smoke alarms in your home. For more information about smoke alarms or other safety tips, please visit www.tvfr.com.
