Tonight a female rider on horseback was struck by a vehicle and suffered serious injuries. The horse was killed in the crash. Investigators are still on scene and have not determined the cause of the crash yet.
On Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 8:47 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to NW Shadybrook Road and NW Pumpkin Ridge Road on a report of a pickup truck that struck a horse and rider. The horse was dead at the scene and the 26-year-old female rider from Portland was critically injured.
The preliminary investigation so far is limited. Members of the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) are on their way to the crash scene and will conduct the investigation. At this time the only information we are able to release is that the driver of a pickup truck stuck the horse and rider, his name is Michael Brown (49 years old from Beaverton.) He remained at the scene after the crash. Mr. Brown was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
More information will be available tomorrow after CART concludes their on-scene investigation.
