BEAVERTON, Ore. - The City of Beaverton is now accepting nominations for Outstanding Volunteer 2015. Any individual who serves in an unpaid volunteer capacity in the city is eligible. Outstanding volunteers are city residents who have changed or enriched Beaverton through projects, service, creativity, and caring.

The winner will have the honor of riding in the Beaverton Celebration Parade on Saturday, Sept. 12, in a vehicle provided by Sunset Audi and Porsche.

"The city is home to many people who contribute countless hours serving and collaborating with our community," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "I ask that residents take time to nominate those around us who diligently strive to make Beaverton a better place."

The deadline to submit nominations is Monday, Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. To nominate someone, visit www.BeavertonOregon.gov/VolunteerNomination.

ABOUT BEAVERTON CELEBRATION WEEKEND
On Sept. 12 and 13, Beaverton will celebrate with several events for the whole family. On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Beaverton Celebration 5K kicks off at 9 a.m. at Griffith Park. The Beaverton Celebration Parade begins at SW Wilson Ave and SW Allen Blvd at 10 a.m., and travels along SW Fifth St to Griffith Park. Dog owners are invited to join the pooch parade leading the parade at 10 a.m. The first-ever Beaverton Night Market will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at The Round, with international food, crafts, and live entertainment.

On Sunday, Sept. 13, Bike Beaverton will be held next to City Park at SW Third St & SW Hall Blvd, with a bike safety rodeo at 1 p.m. and a community bike ride at 2 p.m., followed by an ice cream social. For more information about these and other city events, visit www.BeavertonOregon.gov/Events.
