8-04-2015 at 3:04 Canby fire responded to a report of a grass fire on Dave rd it was reported to be about 10'x10' about 5 min after dispatch firefighters arrived to find the fire had grown to more than 100x100. The fire started in a sma ll blacksmith shop where the owner had forged a piece of metal he thought everything had cooled down before he went into the house for a break. The neighbors called 911 and alerted the owner that his field was on fire. Crews from Canby and Aurora extinguished the fire while TVFR and CCFD#1 provided coverage to the rest of the Fire District. In the extreme hot dry weather we have experienced it only takes a very small spark to ignite a fire that can quickly get out of control.
