At 5:30 pm this evening a fire started in an upper floor of a commercial building at 15800 SE Piazza Avenue in Clackamas. The fire was reported by callers that were across the street from the building who reported seeing flames and dark smoke. Upon arrival crews went to work advancing hose lines to the second story to fight the fire. Command officers quickly called for a second alarm to get more firefighters to the scene. Truck companies went to the roof to cut holes to release the hot fire gases and smoke as firefighters were working to get the fire under control. A third alarm was called to bring more resources to the scene due to the large size of the structure. The fire was contained to the original business that was located on the second floor.

The business that was involved makes medical devices for extracting teeth. No one was inside when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported and people working at the nearby businesses sharing the same building self evacuated before firefighters arrived. Firefighters from Portland Fire and Gladstone fire assisted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
