UPDATE: Photo's included for traffic accident o n Airport Way and grass fire off SE Springwater Drive.
Update: Portland Fire & Rescue also responded to a barn fire at 12387 SW Clara Lane around 10:15 pm last night. When fire crews arrived, they found the barn fully involved. The barn and contents are a total loss at $45,000.00. The cause is under investigation.
Update: The average number of incidents Portland Fire & Rescue responds to per day over the past year is 217.

Portland Fire & Rescue responded to 365 incidents yesterday. These are a few of the notable emergencies.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a traffic accident at NE 138th Avenue and Airport Way around 6:00 am. When fire crews arrived, they found a male patient severely pinned in his vehicle. It took fire crews 55 minutes to extricate the man before sending him to Emanuel Hospital. Westbound traffic on Airport Way was affected.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a small grass fire along Sunset Highway near the tunnel just after 8:00 am. Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish it before it grew to big.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a fire at Lincoln High School around 9:45 am. Fire crews found that the deck on a portable classroom was on fire and had gotten into the classrooms attic. Fire crews were able to have the fire under control by 10:10 am. The fire cause is under investigation.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to vehicle fire at US Veterans Hospital at 3:15 pm in the parking garage. Fire crews found a single vehicle on fire and were able to extinguish it before the fire had affected any other vehicles or structures.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a brush fire at 7720 SE Springwater Drive at 3:20 pm. Fire crews were able to stop this 100 foot fire before it got into any structures. It did burn a fence.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to power line down at SW 31st Avenue and Multnomah Blvd at 3:45 pm. Fire crews found that the power line was down and laying across an occupied vehicle. The female in the vehicle remained calm until the power was shut down by PGE. The female was uninjured. Traffic was affected for several hours due to the light signals at the intersection not working.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a wildfire around 4:00 pm at SW Boones Ferry Rd. and SW Orchard Hill Rd. When fire crews arrived, they found a grass fire that grew to over 50 feet by 100 feet and burned along a fence line. Fire crews were able to get this fire under control by 4:15pm and then spent time mopping up the hot spots.
Due to the Red Flag Warning yesterday, Portland Fire & Rescue did increase staffing to include 2 additional brush units with 2 firefighters on each one.
