BEAVERTON, Ore. - The City of Beaverton's annual Flicks by the Fountain movie series returns Aug. 7. Each Friday will feature a themed movie selected by the public, as well as short films from Beaverton School District's Signal to Noise competition, an annual showcase of student-produced media.

Flicks by the Fountain are held each Friday night in August at Beaverton City Park, SW 5th Street & Hall Boulevard, next to the Beaverton City Library. All movies are free and begin at dusk, with pre-movie activities and entertainment starting at 6:30 p.m.

"We believe in bringing our community together," said Mayor Denny Doyle. "It's what makes Beaverton a welcoming city. Enjoying an outdoor movie under the stars at City Park is a great way to create cherished memories for friends and families."

To ensure the safety of pedestrians and to provide a better viewing experience, SW Fifth Street will be closed between SW Hall Boulevard & SW Watson Avenue from 6 to 11 p.m. Westbound traffic on Fifth Street will be diverted south on SW Tucker Avenue, and northbound Hall Boulevard traffic will be diverted eastbound at Fifth Street.
