Vancouver, Wash. - On May 27, 2015, approximately 60 runners representing law enforcement and athletes from Special Olympics will be participating in the 2015 Clark County Law Enforcement Torch Run.

This year's run has a new route with runners starting at 10:00 a.m. on the steps of the Clark County Courthouse (1200 Franklin Street), heading to the Water Resource Education Center, and then finishing up at the Clark County Juvenile Justice Center (500 W 11th Street). At the end of the race the runners will have lunch and the law enforcement officers will hand out medals to the Special Olympic athletes that participated in the run.

The running of the Special Olympics Torch is an annual event that takes place just prior to the kickoff of the Special Olympics Summer Games which begins this year on May 29th at the Joint Base Lewis- McChord.

Media are welcome to stop by the kickoff, participate in the run, or join up with the runners and athletes afterward at the medal presentation. There are great visuals, opportunities for interviews, and lots of smiles all around. This community event has grown each year as a way to support Special Olympic athletes in SW Washington.
