UPDATE HOAX - REPORTED ASSAULT INVESTIGATION - HOAX BRUSH PRAIRIE

Injured subject: ROSS, John H. DOB 12/23/1959 - residing at 16414 NE 159th Street Brush Prairie, WA.
Ross admitted to detectives that the stabbing injuries were self-inflicted and that he had fabricated the report of two assailants stabbing him. Ross remains hospitalized at Peace Health SW Wash Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Ross told investigators that he concocted the stabbing story in an attempt to draw attention away from a family member involved in a shooting incident that is being investigated by Battle Ground Police. (contact BGPD for details on the shooting case) Charges against Ross for false reporting are being referred to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
Just before 3 am today, sheriff's deputies responded to a reported stabbing assault at the 16400 Block on NE 159th Street. An adult male reported that he had been stabbed by two unknown assailants outside his residence. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Detectives with Major Crimes are presently investigating.
