*** Update ***
Oregon State Police are continuing the investigation into this afternoons double-fatality traffic crash on Highway 34 near milepost 9.5 at Columbus Street in Linn County.

Preliminary information suggests that shortly before 3:00 p.m., a white, 2007 Scion T/C (passenger car) was eastbound on Highway 34 when for yet undetermined reasons it lost control and crossed into the westbound lane of travel; colliding head-on with a white, 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene. A 15-month-old infant riding in the back seat of the Scion was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis for treatment - the extent of their injuries are not known at this time.

Names of the involved drivers and a photograph of the scene will be released once next of kin have been located and notified. The cause of the crash is still pending investigation.
