April 1, 2015-Yesterday, March 31, 2015, a Washington County Grand Jury indicted Jaime Tinoco, 17, of Portland, with the August 19, 2014 murder of Nicole Laube at The Commons at Timber Creek apartments. He was arrested this morning and charged with Homicide.

Within four days of Mr. Tinoco's arrest for the rape and brutal assault of a woman in Eugene on September 13, 2014, Washington County Violent Crimes Unit Detectives questioned him concerning the homicide of Nicole Laube. Washington County Detectives worked closely with Eugene Police Department Detectives to investigate any possible involvement with Mr. Tinoco in Ms. Laube's murder.

Detectives learned that Mr. Tinoco lived with his parents across NW Barnes Road from the apartment complex where Ms. Laube was stabbed to death. At that time, detectives were not able to obtain sufficient information or additional leads to correlate a connection between Mr. Tinoco and Ms. Laube.

During the following months, detectives meticulously poured over hundreds of pieces of information and questioned dozens of people to gain additional insight that would lead them to Ms. Laube's killer.

On March 23, 2015, after Jaime Tinoco was convicted for the rape and assault in Eugene, a Eugene Detective again questioned Mr. Tinoco about Ms. Laube's murder. The Eugene Detective received significant information from Mr. Tinoco prompting him to immediately summon the Washington County Detectives who were working the case. The detectives worked together to obtain information that led them to believe that Jaime Tinoco murdered Nicole Laube. Washington County Juvenile Services provided information that assisted the detectives with their investigation.

Yesterday, March 31, 2015, a Washington County Grand Jury indicted Jaime Tinoco and charged him with Aggravated Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He is currently in the custody of the Oregon Youth Authority. This morning, Washington County Detectives served the arrest warrant and took Mr. Tinoco into their custody and transported him to the Washington County Jail. Jaime Tinoco will be returned to the custody of the Washington County Sheriff after he turns 18 years old on April 3, 2015.

There is a press conference scheduled at the Washington County Sheriff's Office today, April 1, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in training room C. In attendance will be Chris Laube (Nicole's husband) and Rich Jones (Nicole's father). Media is requested to arrive by 12:30 p.m.

Media is also asked to wait for the press conference for additional questions or comments from the family to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
