PORTLAND FIRE RESPONDS TO BURN VICTIM IN NORTH PORTLAND
News Release from Portland Fire & Rescue
Posted on FlashAlert: April 1st, 2015 6:25 PM
At 1:30 AM, Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the intersection of N. Ivanhoe and Charleston, where they found a 45 year old male with extensive burns to his body. He was treated at the scene and transported to Emanuel Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 5:25 AM.
Fire investigators determined that the cause of the fire was accidental. The burn victim apparently was too close while stoking a warming fire when his clothing caught fire. Portland Fire & Rescue urges everyone to be very careful anytime they're close to a heat source or open flame.
Portland Fire expresses their deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim.
This is the third death from fire-related causes in Portland in 2015.
