BEAVERTON, Ore. - The City of Beaverton is now seeking applications from cultural exhibitors and stage performers interested in participating in Celebrate Beaverton - Cultural Festival (formerly: Beaver ton International Celebration). Celebrate Beaverton is hosted by Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District's (THPRD) Party in the Park, on Saturday, July 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Howard M. Terpenning (HMT) Recreation Complex on the corner of SW 158th Avenue and SW Walker Road in Beaverton.


The festival focuses on celebrating Beaverton's diverse community and invites organizations and performers to engage with the purpose of sharing culture, heritage and commonality within the community.


More than 9,000 people attended the 2014 Party in the Park. The international celebration welcomed more than 50 exhibitors and 11 stage performers representing various cultures within the community.


There is no cost to participate. Stage performance groups selected for this event will receive a stipend of $400. Stage performances are presented by the Beaverton Arts Commission and supported by a Regional Arts and Culture Council 2015 project grant.


To participate in the festival, please visit www.BeavertonOregon.gov/CulturalFestival for the application. Food vendor applicants must submit applications directly to THPRD at www.thprd.org. The application deadline for performers, artists and exhibitors is Friday, May 15 at 5 p.m. For information, call 503-526-2559.


ABOUT PARTY IN THE PARK
THPRD's Party in the Park is an annual event of free fun for people of all ages. The 10th annual Party in the Park will be held on Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Howard M. Terpenning (HMT) Recreation Complex on the corner of SW 158th Avenue and SW Walker Road in Beaverton. Featured activities are Celebrate Beaverton - Cultural Festival, Family Triathlon, the Classic at T-Hills car show, and Beaverton Police K-9 Unit demonstration. Other attractions include giant inflatables, climbing walls, and face painting for children, as well as swimming, sports, and music for everyone. Admission to all activities is free, although there is a participant fee for the Family Triathlon and an exhibitor fee for The Classic.
