BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Beaverton City Library will host a screening and inclusive discussion on the documentary film Private Violence on Wednesday, April 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the main library auditorium, 12375 SW Fifth St. The film explores the experiences of American women challenged by violence at home, and hopes to provide greater understanding of the realities and policies in the United States.

The library welcomes the public, as well as local organizations and victims' outreach workers, to participate in this critical discussion. The 77-minute documentary will be followed by a 30-minute conversation led by Sarah Christie of the Domestic Violence Resource Center in Hillsboro and Katrina Rodriguez from the Beaverton Police Department's victims' services unit. They will discuss questions including what drives abuse, what causes women to tolerate abuse, and how society can build a future without domestic violence.

This event is free and open to the public, but recommended only for adult audiences due to mature content. No registration is required. The event is using social media hashtags #PrivateViolence and #WhyIStayed for further discussion.
