On March 1, 2015 just after 10:00 am Oregon City Police received a 911 call of a strong armed robbery occurring at the Grocery Outlet located at 878 Molalla Ave. Patrol officers arrived on scene finding a male suspect fighting with two Grocery Outlet employees outside the store. The suspect was taken into custody after resisting arrest.

The suspect was identified as 21 year old Monty Ray Buck out of Oregon City. Investigators found Mr. Buck had shoplifted store property before exiting the store. Store employees confronted Mr. Buck outside the store. Mr. Buck began fighting with the employees. Store employees realized he was armed with a machete and a knife. They were able to get the machete away from Mr. Buck and keep him outside the store until police arrived.

The suspect was transported to Willamette Falls Hospital as a precautionary measure. The suspect attempted to escape from police custody at the hospital and bit an Oregon City Police Officer. The officer was treated for his injury and released from the hospital.

Monty Ray Buck was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail for 2 counts of Robbery I, Resisting Arrest, Attempted Escape II, Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, and Criminal Mischief II with a bail of $295, 000.
