Posted on FlashAlert: March 2nd, 2015 6:31 PM
On 3/02/15 at 4:04pm a deputy from the Clark County Sheriff's Office made a traffic stop in the Eastridge Business Park at 12115 NE 99th Street in Brush Prairie. When the deputy contacted the driver, Josh L. McCabe 33 of Vancouver, he refused to speak to him. McCabe refused to comply with the deputy in any way. The deputy called for back-up and as the cover officer was arriving, the deputy attempted to open McCabe's drivers door. McCabe locked the door, put the vehicle in reverse, and slammed into the front of the deputy's patrol car. McCabe sped through the parking lot, side-swiped a citizen's car, and then intentionally rammed the front of the arriving cover officer's patrol car. McCabe fled southeast into a residential neighborhood in the 9500 block of NE 134th Avenue. He abandoned the vehicle, a 1995 green Toyota Avalon, and was eventually captured on foot nearby.
McCabe was arrested and booked for Assault in the Second Degree. His driving privileges in the state of Washington were suspended in the first degree for a prior DUI conviction at the time. He was driving the involved vehicle without the state required interlock device. It is unknown at this time whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in this incident. No one was injured during this event, but there was significant property damage to two Sheriff's Office patrol cars, the car of a citizen, and the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle was not registered to McCabe. The registered owner could not be contacted at the time of the press release.
Further charges related to Driving While Suspended or Revoked in the First Degree, Interlock Required, Hit and Run Attended, Hit and Run Unattended, and Felony Eluding are pending.
