SALEM MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING ELUDE IN MARION COUNTY NEAR KEIZER

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION:
The Oregon State Police recovered a stolen Honda Accord in short pursuit that resulted in a crash and foot pursuit on Interstate 5 near milepost 260 northbound. Driver is in custody and Troopers believe that a female passenger fled on foot.
No reported injuries or property damage. Preliminary information reveals that Oregon State Police attempted to stop a 1994 blue Honda Accord driven by MAURICIO GOMEZ CASTANEDA 18 from Salem, for speeding on Portland Road in Salem. GOMEZ attempted to elude and entered Interstate 5 northbound and lost control resulting in him crashing into the center divider. He then attempting to flee on foot and shortly after taken into custody by Troopers. The vehicle was determined to be stolen out of the Keizer area.
MAURICIO GOMEZ CASTANEDA 18 from Salem, was lodged in the Marion County Jail on the following charges:
* Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle
* Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot
* Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
* Reckless Driving
* Recklessly Endangering Another Person
* Driving While Suspended - Violation
