Just after 8:30 a.m. this morning, a resident returned to her home at 21975 SW 75th in Tualatin to find smoke in the home and fire on the roof. She immediately called 9-1-1 to report the fire and summon crews to the scene.
The crew from Elligsen Road Station 56 in Wilsonville was the first to arrive and found a two-story home with fire on the roof near the chimney. The crew initiated an immediate attack on the fire on the first floor of the home then worked to contain fire that had reached the attic area of the home. The crews had the fire knocked down 19-minutes after their arrival. All residents were safely out of the home and no injuries were reported.
Water tenders were brought in to shuttle water to the scene based on the rural location of the home. Forty-Eight firefighters worked to control the fire. TVF&R crews were assisted by Lake Oswego Fire Department and TVF&R volunteers.
A TVF&R fire investigator is still working to determine the cause of the fire but confirms that the area of origin for the fire was fireplace-related. The investigator is working to conduct interviews and examine material evidence to determine where and how this fire started.
