BEND, Ore., Feb. 18, 2015 -- The American Red Cross is in every community across the country, including those in central and eastern Oregon, and offer several lines of service. An open house event is scheduled to share information about the Red Cross and recruit community volunteers.
"There are many entry points to the Red Cross," says Laurie Conroy, director of volunteer services for the American Red Cross Cascades Region. "Volunteer opportunities are available in a wide variety of areas including home fire safety outreach, disaster preparedness, event organization, disaster health services and more."
WHAT: American Red Cross open house and volunteer recruitment event
WHEN: 3 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015
WHERE: Prodigal Son Brewery (private room), 230 SE Court Ave. in Pendleton, Ore.
DETAILS: Participants will receive an overview of Red Cross services in the local community,
learn about training opportunities and discuss a variety of volunteer openings.
The American Red Cross Cascades Region has approximately 1,700 volunteers across Oregon and Southwest Washington. Last year they provided assistance to more than 900 individuals and families affected by disasters as a result of home fires, wildfires, floods and severe weather.
