February 28, 2015 - A Bethany man crashed his 2015 Mercedes into a tree and crosswalk sign. He was criminally cited for the crash.
At 1:45 a.m., Saturday morning, Washington County deputies responded to a report of a high-speed crash near the intersection of NW Laidlaw and NW Waterford Way. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2015 Mercedes with substantial damage.
Deputies located the driver, Bruce Tran, age 39 of Bethany standing near his wrecked car unharmed. Mr. Tran reported that he was driving faster than the posted speed when he lost control of his car. When the car left the road, it struck a tree and then a crosswalk sign before coming to rest against a brick wall. The contact with the sign tore off most of the passenger side of the car.
Mr. Tran was criminally cited for Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief II.
Speeding contributes to a higher risk of traffic crashes. The Washington County Sheriff's Office encourages drivers to obey posted speed limits and drive safely for the road conditions.
