Gresham, Ore. - On Tuesday Feb. 17 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Portland Police Bureau's Gang Enforcement Team (GET) was involved in a shooting at Southwest 11th Avenue and SW Highland Drive, Gresham.

The Metro Gang Task Force (MGTF) and GET were conducting surveillance on known gang associate Ryan Matthew Sudlow, 31, of Gresham. Sudlow and an adult female passenger left his home in a vehicle and stopped at the Safeway Gas Station, 1001 SW Highland Drive. After pulling into the station, officers conducted a vehicle stop to arrest Sudlow, who had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on an Attempt to Elude charge.

At some point during the stop, at least one gun was fired but no one was injured. Officers from Gresham Police Department and other surrounding agencies responded to the Portland officer's calls for assistance. Sudlow was ultimately taken into custody without further incident. His passenger's name is not being released at this time.

The East County Major Crimes Team was activated and is investigating the shooting with the cooperation and assistance from Portland Police Bureau detectives. The investigation is ongoing and no further updates are expected until Wednesday afternoon.

Sudlow is being booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for the warrant and may face additional charges related to this incident. He has been arrested numerous times for crimes that include drug possession, attempting to elude police, disorderly conduct, felon in possession of a restricted weapon, forgery, and DUII.

As standard procedure, any officers directly involved in the shooting incident will be placed on paid administrative leave during the course of the investigation.
