Posted on FlashAlert: February 15th, 2015 4:24 PM
At 10:31 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, a male called 911 from a residence in the 29000 block of S. Wall St. in Colton. The male caller told dispatchers that someone had been stabbed at the residence and the suspect was armed with a gun and then hung up the phone.
Deputies responded to the residence. They were reportedly confronted by a male holding a hatchet.
The male continued to advance towards the Deputies as they gave commands to drop the hatchet. Deputies then fired their weapons, hitting the male who died at the scene.
Deputies did not find any victim of a stabbing at the residence, as had originally been reported to 911.
The Clackamas County Interagency Major Crime Team, Clackamas County District Attorney's Office, and Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Detectives are currently at the scene investigating.
The deputies involved in the shooting are now on paid administrative leave -- which is standard practice following an officer-involved shooting.
The names of the involved deputies are not being released at this time.
The identity of the male who died is not being released at this time.
