This morning at 7:50 AM Portland Firefighters were called to Fred's Marina at 12800 NW Marina Way. Arriving firefighters found a 27' sailboat on fire. Firefighters used a combination of portable floating fire pumps and a Portland Fire boat to extinguish the fire. Firefighters searched the boat for occupants and didn't find anyone.

Fires over water (on floating docks and boats) present additional danger and can be challenging for firefighters. These fires are dangerous because firefighters are at risk of falling into the water. Firefighters wear life preservers to lessen this risk. These fires are challenging because firefighters often have to use alternative water supplies due to the distance from the boats to land (and water mains).

A Fire Investigator is on scene working to determine the cause of this fire. No injuries were associated with this fire.
