The Happy Valley Police is investigating a report of an unknown male attempting to lure a 10-year-old child into his red Toyota truck with a license plate containing the letters XQZ. Tips are sought.
At 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, the 10-year-old girl was walking to school near the 11400 block of SE Norwood Loop in Happy Valley when an unknown male driving a red Toyota truck reportedly stopped to talk to her.
The male told the girl that her mother was in the hospital and that he was supposed to pick her up.
The girl then grabbed her cell phone and the truck drove away.
The unknown male is described as follows:
- African-American male
- Age: 50s
- Appeared to be short and heavily built
- Salt-and-pepper grey hair and beard
- "scratchy smoker's voice"
The suspicious male's vehicle is described as follows;
- Red Toyota truck
- Partial license plate XQZ-*** (last three digits unknown)
- Bumper stickers: "Keep Portland Weird" and "Baby on Board"
